We are always looking for feedback from our customers in regard to questions they have when searching in the Onna platform. In this post, we'll be looking at some of the most commonly asked search questions and provide our tips and tricks that can be utilized for Advanced Searches.
Slack
Before performing an advanced search, ensure these metadata fields are enabled:

How do I search for all conversations between custodians with a specified date range?
Configuration

Set Related Usernames to contains the user(s) you wish to include. For multiple users, you must set each one as a separate line as pictured below.

Set Conversation Type to Is Set to include all conversation types found in Slack.

Set Parent Workspace Name to contains the workspace(s) you'd like to search across or leave blank if you're searching across your entire instance.

Set the File Creation Date to before or after a specified date. If you would like to search between two dates, then you would need to have two file creation date criteria with each.
We will collect all data from related users where the user in question has participated in or was mentioned in the conversation.
How do I search for a specific term(s) across all private and public messages?

Set Extracted Text to contains the terms you are looking for separated by a comma.

Set Conversation type to Is Set to include all conversation types found in Slack.

Set Parent Workspace Name to contains the workspace(s) you'd like to search across or leave blank if you're searching across your entire instance.
How do I perform a wildcard search?
Wildcards take the place of one or more characters in a search term.

Set Extracted Text to regular expression

Then, enter the term you are looking for, but place a period and an asterix (.*) at the beginning, middle and/or end of the word as the wildcard. This will look for all results that include the specified term, plus any letters in place of the wildcard.

Example: Extracted Text to regular expression and enter cont.*t in the field. This will match with files that contain content, contract, contact etc.

Or .*ree will match with files that contain agree, disagree, pedigree etc.

At least three other characters should be included for an optimal experience.

How do I search across multiple email accounts?
To use advanced search with multiple email accounts you will need to take advantage of conditional groups with OR conditions.

Begin by clicking Add Group. This allows us to set up multiple search conditions with an OR statement.

Next select the Resource field Parent Source Name and use a contains condition that includes the name of one of the email source accounts.

Add another Parent Source Name and contains condition with an additional email source account by clicking on Add Condition with OR selected:

You can repeat this process until you have all the targeted email accounts you want to search.
After adding a few, your query may start looking similar to this:
